In its recent article, Dossier magazine recognized the unique partnership between Dictador and Penderyn Distillery. It is the first collaboration of this kind in the world of fine spirits, creating new paths towards innovation.
The collaboration was formed as part of the Dictador 2 Masters project. This exclusive collection comprises partnerships between the luxury rum brand Dictador and top brands from the world of fine spirits.
Dictador rum is passed to other Master Blenders who age it in casks previously used to store their own alcohol: whisky, brandy, champagne, and more. This procedure creates tasting notes that have never been known before, opening up a brand-new dimension of flavor.
In the Dictador 2 Masters partnership with Penderyn, Colombian-aged rum was finished in Welsh whisky casks. The 2024 release delivered two vintages: 1991 and 2000.
The 1991 Vintage was distilled in 1991, then aged at Penderyn Distillery in Peated Quarter Casks for 16 months. The exclusive release consists of only 413 bottles.
The 2000 vintage, distilled in 2000, spent 16 months maturing in PX-Sherry Casks. Even more limited than the other vintage, this release provides 375 bottles.
A noteworthy aspect of this collaboration is that Aista Phillips from Penderyn is the first female Master Blender to participate in the creation of the Dictador 2 Masters collection. Together with Hernan Parra, a representative of the 3rd generation of Dictador’s Master Blenders, they have created a truly unique spirit, setting a new standard for innovations in the world of luxury spirits.
Dossier calls this partnership “innovative and unprecedented,” claiming it “established a new benchmark in global spirits innovation.”
